If you are planning to go to the US, unless you are exempt, you will need oneamerican visa🇧🇷 You may have applied for a US visa and if your visa was approved, your passport would have been collected at the US consulate. Even though the visa officer said it was approved, you might be curious to know the status of the US visa stamp in your passport.
The question is, how do you check your US visa status online? Even if your passport has been returned and you've received a receipt that includes something like an administrative processing, you'll still want to check your visa status online. We will see the online US visa status verification process below with full screenshots.

StStep by step guide to online US visa status check for stamping in passport
Step 1 - Access the CEAC website:You need to go to the US Department of State's Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) website. CEAC is part of the US Department of State and is used to prepare DS-160 and DS-260 visa applications. You would have used the same to create your US visa application. Here is the link :https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/.
Step 2 - Click Check the status of my visa application: Depending on the type of U.S. visa you are applying for, whether it is a nonimmigrant visa or an immigrant visa, you will need to click Check My Visa Application Status. Also below are the direct links to check the status.

Step 3 - Enter the location, application ID or case number: Once you are on this page, you need to enter the information below highlighted with arrows in the screenshot above and click on the submit button.
- Ort:From the drop-down menu, select the location where you went for your US visa interview
- Application ID:The application ID is located on your U.S. visa appointment confirmation letter. It looks like the screenshot below in the DS-160 letter or app.
- Operation Number:A “case number” is provided by the consulate and is usually found on a receipt provided to you, usually for administrative processing or 221g. It has the format 2020118 145 1001. You must enter it correctly with spaces or you will get the error message “Your search did not return any data”. See the screenshot below of what the "case number" looks like. The visa officer would have written.
- Security code:You must enter the code shown in the image to verify human spam bot verification.
Step 4 - View US Visa Status:Once you have entered everything correctly and there are no errors, your US visa status will be displayed. It can be in some statuses like Administrative Processing, Issued or other statuses. Check out the screenshots below for examples of what to expect. If it is in administrative processing, it must be waited. If it says issued, your visa has been issued and you can be assured that your visa stamp is complete and your U.S. visa has been issued.

If you are submitting your U.S. visa extension documents through the Dropbox option, or occasionally after an in-person visa interview, you can usually view the status online at the CEAC website, which will say "No Status." It looks like the screenshot below.
You see this status very often in Dropbox cases. The reason is that they take some time to review the documents and update the case status online. There is a few days delay. Some users have reported that it took up to 10 days. You can see this status a few days up to 10 days after the date you submitted the document or visited the consulate.
Don't panic if you see No Status online for up to a week or 10 days. Visit the consulate only if you are staying in that state for a long period of time.
US Visa Status - Administrative Processing
If you receive the administrative procedure, it means that the visa has not yet been issued and ongoing reviews are taking place. You can usually see this in the first few days after the interview. If you have received a 221g administrative processing, it may take longer to be issued.
To update: As of March 3, 2020, users will no longer see the administrative processing status, they will see a new status showing as denied. Looks like below. Don't panic, this is a system-wide change to the displayed text.

It clearly says "If you have been informed by the consular officer that your case has been rejected for administrative processing, your case will remain rejected during processing. Once the processing is complete, you will receive another bonus.” See highlighted text.
American Visa Status - Emitido
If you have “Issued” status, it means your visa stamp is almost ready and in the final stages. You should receive it soon in a week to 10 days. If you do not receive anything, you can contact the consulate about this.
US Visa Status - Denied
If your visa has been declined or denied, you will see the status “Rejected” on the CEAC website. This essentially means that you cannot prove to the consular officer that you qualify for a visa. There can be many reasons for this, sometimes they aredenied under 214(b)or other reasons. Your consular officer would issue you with a receipt or justify your refusal.
In some cases the rejected status will show up online once the interview is complete... in some cases like H1B where they tend to forgiveAdministrative processing that is 221(g)., and let's say at some point refuse or refuse the visa, then it will only appear much later...

To update: The wording for actually denied cases has also changed from the previous wording. It has slightly different lyrics that say: "A US consular officer ruled and denied his visa application.🇧🇷 Check it out below.
Frequently Asked Questions – US Visa Status Check
Error - "Your search returned no data"?
If you try to check your US visa status on the CEAC website and get the error message "Your search did not return any data", it means that you entered the data incorrectly. They would have removed the spaces in the case number. You must enter it correctly with spaces.example: 2020118 145 1001. Note that the number contains two spaces. Below is the error screenshot for your reference. If you correct the spaces, the error will go away.
Error - Invalid Application ID or Case Number?
If you receive an error message stating "Invalid Application ID or Case Number" as below, you have selected the wrong location and entered the Application ID or Case Number or the wrong Application ID number. It can also occur if you enter the case number and omit some digits or add more digits. If you correct the entered numbers, the error will disappear.
